What We Believe

Built on Timeless Truth

While Old Lexington has seen many seasons since 1813, our foundation remains unchanged because the Truth does not change. We stand on these beliefs today because they come from our true and living God. These are the same life-giving words that started this church and continue to guide our future.

God

God created the universe, and everything was created for His glory (Colossians 1:16; Nehemiah 9:6; Revelation 4:11). God exists as a triune God in three distinct persons as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and yet are One in absolute unity and purpose (John 1:14; Matt. 28:19). God sent His one and only Son, born of the virgin Mary, who lived and died as a perfect, sinless sacrifice for the sins of all who have faith in Him (Hebrews 4:15; 2 Corinthians 5:21). God will once again send His Son at His appointed time to renew all things (Hebrews 9:28, Titus 2:13).

Scripture

The Bible is God’s perfect and complete revelation to us, able to make us wise for our salvation (2 Timothy 3:15-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

Humanity

God created men and women in His image, therefore, all people reflect His glory and are to be treated with dignity and honor (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:14; Mark 10:6). All people are sinners and only Jesus Christ is able to save people from their sins (Romans 3:23 and 6:23).
